TUNE INTO NBC ON TUESDAY NIGHTS TO ROOT FOR TJE AUSTIN AND TEAM CEE LO!!! (Sorry Christina, I’ll still have your baby or make you a music vid but gotta root for mah buddy Tje!)
So this was shot and edited about a year ago for the track “Hollywood” off of Tje Austin’s second album Xperience long before his getting picked by Cee Lo on NBC’s “The Voice”.
For concept, casting and directing all credit goes to the one and only Louie Fattz, look him up. I was brought in to do the crewing up, shooting, lighting and later took on the task of editor.
Since I didn’t direct this one I don’t have some of my usual banter but as far as behind the scenes random info goes this was the quintessential low budget run-n-gun. Everything was filmed in one day bouncing from the strip club (no pun intended) to the bus station to the street and clothing store (which I had actually already done a promo for, you can see that here: vimeo.com/7366099) and than finally to back to my house where we shot Tje’s performance in the middle of my humble front room.
Though it was a brutal day I don’t think things could have gone any smoother. Tje was great to work with, incredibly humble despite being oozing with talent and Sasha Garcia, our female lead, was just a blast to work with. I don’t think there was a break between takes that she wasn’t smiling and laughing. Perfect casting in that she was able to play the shy unassuming girl from a small town then effortlessly transition to the *ba-bam* lured by bright lights and fast money exotic dancer and back again.
And for the technically minded video peeps this was shot on a Sony EX1 w/Letus35 Extreme, edited in Sony Vegas with additional color correction done in Magic Bullet Looks.
